Chestnuts Raw By The Pound

We recently received a request to know how many chestnuts are in a pound. The couple was planning for an organic roasted chestnut evening during these holidays. So we did a quick measurement and learned that there are 37 chestnuts in a pound according to this test on our farm. This may be different depending on the size and the variety of chestnuts one uses. Also, the moisture content in a chestnut can vary with age. We currently sell fresh walnuts, and the scale shows results from fresh walnuts harvested this season.
