About The Farm:

Handy Farms is owned and operated by the property’s only residents: The Handy Family. Clayton Handy had a dream to create a fully sustainable farm. He dreamed of having his food products free from pesticides, herbicides, and as nutritionally dense as possible. The result is an agricultural system that preserves the health of the farmer, consumer, and mother nature. 

All products grown and sold with Handy Farms are grown using regenerative agriculture systems. This means the diverse plant and fungal ecology is planned in such a way that the crop's nutritional needs are met by this underground network. As a result of the dense understory soil organic matter is also building. This improves the soil’s water-holding capacity and pulls carbon from the atmosphere into the soil where it acts as a vital building component in plant growth. How is that for reducing carbon footprint?

The dream would be incomplete if it weren’t for the children’s laughter as they play throughout the orchard and dense vegetation beneath. The vision of Handy Farms is more than just physical health. We include family, nutrition, and earth. It is truly a labor of love.

    Amazing quality nuts with a delicious flavor! It was so much fun for me and my family to crack them and enjoy them raw, in banana bread, overnight soaked, with yogurt and so many other desserts. The red walnuts were less bitter than the Chandler nuts, but we enjoy both. The hazelnuts had large kernels and a wonderful aroma when roasted. Can’t wait to order some more. Highly recommended.

    I want to give a shout out to the Handy family, not only for their incredible red walnuts (I am a fan for life), but their customer service is unmatched! Last year when I ordered they were delayed a few days and even though I didn’t think anything of it, I got a call from Clayton Handy himself! He was so gracious and wanted to apologize and update me. It was a pleasure talking to him and he even sent a note (and with extra walnuts) to thank me. This year even with a speedy shipment, he still sent a note and extra walnuts! To go above and beyond like this for the customer is rare and very much appreciated. I give these walnuts out as Christmas gifts and everyone tells me how much they like them. I’m definitely hoarding some for myself though 🙂 Thank you, Handy family

    I ordered 3lb red walnuts in shell and 2lb black walnuts in hull. They came pretty quickly in a week. I surprisingly found a hand-written letter from Clayton Handy with warm welcome and an extra pound of red walnuts for possible not perfect walnuts! They really made my day! The wild black walnuts are difficult to find, and it was an interesting experience to unhull them and get the nuts in their real shells. The red walnuts are really easy to crack and they tastes super good. Thank you, Handy Family, for sharing such delicious walnuts with us across the country.

    These red walnuts in shell are just gorgeous – when you crack those open you just have to take a moment and be amazed at their deep purplish red color and only then consume! Of course they taste fantastic. I crack those only when I am ready to eat them to maintain their freshness, and also to see the color which comes out a bit differently in every nut and it is fascinating to expect some variation with every nut cracking! Thank you, Handy Farms to grow this organic wonderful red walnut – I would be able to buy this walnut anywhere else if not for you.

    I ordered english and red walnuts in-shell. Both were super fresh and creamy, my family loved them. Red had slightly softer flavor, which means you can eat more of them :-).

    These walnuts are the ultimate winner from what I’ve tried before. I was amazed at the freshness. Sometimes nuts are warehoused too long and they begin to smell stale. Not so here.     I am so glad I finally decided to purchase directly from a farmer. While I do garden and normally buy as much produce and meats locally directly from farmers, this is the first time I purchased nuts online directly from a farmer. These are fantastic and exactly what I hoped for, so fresh and yummy. I made the mistake of cracking enough to fill a pint jar and am afraid I will eat too many at a time, guess I have to bake something with them and then crack a smaller amount. Will definitely order again!
